German media outlet RTL.de recently put the Dukawey FUGL 3.0 through a seven-day everyday test, looking beyond the specification sheet at how the e-bike performs in real riding conditions.
The reviewer, Tobias Kern, works as a two-wheel mechatronics technician, and you can read the full RTL.de review.
The review focused on the FUGL 3.0 as a comfort-oriented city and trekking e-bike. Its low-step frame, upright riding position, large battery and switchable sensor system are designed around everyday use.

What Did RTL.de Test?
RTL.de evaluated the FUGL 3.0 across several areas, including:
- Assembly and build quality
- Display, controls and assistance modes
- Ride comfort on different surfaces
- Hydraulic braking performance
- Battery, charging and range
- Practicality for commuting, shopping and longer rides
The test was carried out over seven days on city streets, bike paths, side roads, short climbs and uneven sections, moving from unboxing and build quality on day one to battery, charging and range on day seven.

Comfort Starts With the Step-Through Frame
One of the first things that defines the FUGL 3.0 is its low-step aluminium frame. RTL.de found the riding position suitable for riders looking for an upright and comfortable setup, with the saddle and stem offering adjustment for different body sizes.
The 26 × 2.5-inch tyres and oil-damped front suspension fork also contribute to the comfort-focused design. On uneven urban surfaces, the suspension helps reduce the impact of bumps, while the wider tyres provide a stable feel.

Two Sensor Modes for Different Riding Styles
A key part of the RTL.de test was the FUGL 3.0's switchable sensor system.
Riders can choose between torque-sensor and cadence-sensor assistance. In torque mode, motor support responds to the rider's pedalling force, giving more direct control over how much assistance is delivered. Cadence mode offers a different experience, requiring less physical effort once the pedals are turning.
RTL.de tested both modes in different situations. The reviewer described the torque mode as providing a controlled and direct start:
"Im Drehmomentmodus fühlt sich das FUGL3.0 beim Anfahren kontrolliert und angenehm direkt an."
That flexibility is one of the more distinctive aspects of the FUGL 3.0.

672 Wh Battery and Everyday Range
The FUGL 3.0 uses a removable 48 V, 14 Ah battery with a capacity of 672 Wh.
Dukawey states a maximum assisted range of up to 120 km under favorable conditions. RTL.de notes that real range depends on rider weight, luggage, hills, wind, temperature and tyre pressure. Under load, the test measured around 90 km with a 95 kg rider and about 20 kg of luggage on mainly flat ground, and a full charge takes about 4 to 5 hours.
The large battery provides useful range reserves for commuting, shopping and longer rides.
For riders who cannot charge their e-bike where it is parked, the removable battery is another practical advantage.

Hydraulic Brakes and Daily Control
The FUGL 3.0 is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes at both the front and rear. RTL.de tested the braking system as part of its overall safety and handling assessment. Braking from 25 km/h with both brakes stopped the bike in about 6.87 m.
The hydraulic setup requires relatively little hand force and offers controllable braking, which is relevant for a relatively heavy e-bike. With the bike's 180 kg maximum total load, braking performance matters most when carrying additional luggage.
RTL.de also checked the motor cut-off during braking, lighting and the stability of the kickstand as part of the test.

What About Weight and Practicality?
The main consideration identified by RTL.de is the FUGL 3.0's weight. At 29.5 kg including the battery, this is not a lightweight e-bike.
That weight is less noticeable once the motor is assisting, but it becomes more relevant when moving the bike without power, lifting it into a vehicle or carrying it up stairs.
For riders who mainly keep the bike in a garage, shed or ground-level storage area, this may be less important. Those who regularly need to lift or transport their e-bike should take the weight into account before buying.

Who Is the FUGL 3.0 Designed For?
Based on RTL.de's test, the FUGL 3.0 is aimed at riders who value comfort, range and everyday practicality.
It can make sense for:
- Daily commuting and urban transportation
- Shopping trips with additional luggage
- Longer leisure rides
- Riders who prefer a low-step frame
- Riders who want to switch between torque and cadence assistance
- People who benefit from a removable battery
The combination of a low-step frame, upright riding position, suspension fork, hydraulic brakes and 672 Wh battery gives the FUGL 3.0 a clear everyday orientation. Riders comparing options can browse the full city e-bike range at Gleecycle.

What RTL.de's Test Says About the FUGL 3.0
RTL.de's seven-day test presents the Dukawey FUGL 3.0 as an e-bike built around everyday comfort and practical range rather than low weight.
Its main features include a low-step frame, 672 Wh removable battery, switchable torque and cadence sensors, hydraulic disc brakes, front suspension and a high total load rating.
FAQ
How far can the Dukawey FUGL 3.0 go?
Dukawey lists a maximum assisted range of up to 120 km. RTL.de notes that real-world range varies with rider weight, luggage, terrain, weather, tyre pressure and assistance level. In the test, a 95 kg rider carrying 20 kg of luggage covered around 90 km on mainly flat ground.
Does the FUGL 3.0 have two different sensor systems?
Yes. The FUGL 3.0 allows riders to switch between torque-sensor and cadence-sensor assistance. RTL.de tested both modes during its seven-day evaluation.
Is the battery removable?
